Welcome

Welcome to the Theoretical Ecology and Evolution Laboratory (TEE Lab) and the homepage of Vishwesha Guttal. I am an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and associate faculty of the interdisciplinary program IMI (IISc Math Initiative)

Prior to this, I was a postdoc in the group of Iain Couzin at Princeton University; and I did my PhD in Physics at The Ohio State University working with Prof. C Jayaprakash on theoretical ecology. My undergraduate education was at IIT Kanpur.

I work in the area of Mathematical/Theoretical Ecology and Evolution including Collective Animal Behavior focusing on the evolutionary aspects, and spatiotemporal patterns, self-organization and abrupt changes in ecosystems.

During my graduate student days at Columbus, OH, I used volunteer for Association for India’s Development. Click here for Columbus chapter webpage.

Is there an ecourse available on this subject area

  2. vishuguttal says:

@Dr. Chattergjee: I am not aware of any. We have recorded many of our lectures but the recording quality was not that great. We may repeat that when I teach again, and hopefully, in an year an e-course of the sort on theoretical ecology may be available.

Many thanks Dr Vishu Guttal. At Sikkim Biodiversity Conservation and Forest Management Project we are trying to signify biodiversity of different forest types in quantitative terms. Your course will be very helpful to the researchers working in this project.
